The Waiting Game
Coronavirus has forced me to be patient in regards to any wedding work. I managed to squeeze one wedding in last year while others had to push pack their dates. Fortunately, I don’t depend on weddings to provide all of my income. I have another job that pays the bills.
What have I been doing to keep my photography eyes fresh? I’ve been shooting a lot of street photography which is very similar to how I shoot weddings. What do I mean by that? Street photography for me is all about catching candid moments. I look for areas of interesting light and wait for people to interact with each other. I take the same approach to my wedding photography. I look for light or people interacting with each other and wait for the right second to take a photo. Even though there hasn’t been a lot of people out, I’ve still been able to find a good amount of interesting moments. Here in Denver, it’s actually opening up more with restaurants going back to full capacity so there are more people out and about.
I wanted to let you know that I didn’t quit the wedding business. I just haven’t been able to find much work but I’m waiting patiently and keeping my eyes fresh shooting street photography. If you want to see more of my street work, follow me on instagram @rudyortega_street.
