Boulder Wedding Photographer
Leora and Charles were married at Hotel Boulderado in Boulder, Colorado. This hotel had a vintage feel with the floral wallpaper and old style elevators so this Boulder wedding Photographer was loving it. The ceremony was held in the lobby area and it was the hardest ceremony I have ever photographed. It was difficult because of the very high ceilings, the small space to work, and the dark lighting that was available. As a Boulder Documentary Wedding Photographer, I like to move around a lot but during this ceremony I was limited to a few spots. At one point, I tried to walk down the stairs to get closer, but with each step there was a loud creek which interrupted the ceremony. It was also very dark and since the ceilings were too high, I couldn’t bounce my flash as I had to use both on-camera flash and very high ISO. I was able to get some good photos so everything worked out in the end. Leora insisted that her wedding would be very laidback without any dancing or festivities during the reception. I relied on getting good moments of laughter and joy of family members conversing, using my documentary photography approach. I was able to take the couple away for a few minutes to get some portraits and I found a cool old basement with a bar that featured dark, moody, lighting. This was a wedding that challenged my creativity as I had to create moments because their wasn’t a lot of events taking place. It was a reminder that it’s up to the photographer to capture good moments while making the best use out of our time and that not everything is going to be spoon fed to us. Enjoy the photos!
