Caleb's Bar Mitzvah
Boulder Event Photographer
I’ve never photographed a Bar Mitzvah before so I didn’t know what to expect as a Boulder photographer. It’s basically a ceremony to celebrate a boy who turns 13 and is obligated to perform jewish commandments. I was raised Catholic so it’s similar from the time that I went through first communion. I had to take classes so I could learn about my religion and become initiated to receive the bread and wine from the Catholic Priest. Caleb had to memorize lots of Jewish scripture and perform various tasks before he could go through his bar mitzvah ceremony. As I was watching and getting candid moments during the ceremony for Caleb, I was reminded what it’s like to be 13 again with voice cracks, and trembling nerves. Caleb had to sing and recite Jewish scripture in front his friends and family, and while he was nervous, he did a great job. I enjoyed documenting the event as I concentrated on getting good moments. I wish Caleb the best of luck in his life as he enters adulthood.
